      When Justice Sotomayor was confirmed in , she became the first Hispanic woman to be named to the nation’s highest court, inspiring not just young women, but also Hispanic and Latino children.   More about the history of Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrations that take place can be found here. In honor of this month of honoring those of Hispanic heritage, I thought it’d be worthwhile to pull together a YA book list. These are titles written by Hispanic authors or books featuring Hispanic main characters.

      There are many Hispanic authors, male and female, that have encapsulated the essence of what Hispanic literature is all about. I wish I could list in detail all of their works and what their scholarship has meant to literature, but that would be a list of epic proportions.
